ISTI at WOSMIP Online

“I just took the week-long ISTI EW class, and as the saying goes, ‘like drinking from a firehose’ it was a fun and rewarding week. I learned a lot!”
— ANGEL RODRIGUEZ
“The discussions and demos on the EW modules were very helpful in conveying the 'nesting' of the modules and their complex interactions. This course was just that I needed.”
— A 2021 EARTHWORM COURSE STUDENT
“Even though I already knew about most of the different pieces involved in AQMS, this course provided me with the whole picture and explained how all those different parts are tied together.”
— A 2021 AQMS STUDENT
“Hands-on Demonstrations. [The instructors] wer all great about explaining the goal, and were helpful when issues arose.”
— AN ISTI SOFTWARE TRAINING STUDENT
“The most valuable portion was learning the basics of earthworm. I appreciate the walk-throughs of how to set up EW rings and modules.”
— A 2021 EARTHWORM COURSE STUDENT
“EW basics configuration [training was valuable]. Before the course, I had never used EW. Now I have basic knowledge to set and run EW on my own.”
— A 2021 EARTHWORM COURSE STUDENT
“[We received] explanations of the various data, processing flows, configuration examples. In the future I expect the notes to be a valuable reference.”
— A 2021 EARTHWORM COURSE STUDENT

ISTI at the WOSMIP Remote 2 2021 Online Virtual meeting

  • When: 25 May 2021

  • Where: WOSMIP Remote 2 2021 Virtual Meeting, Online

  • What: Virtual Exhibitor Presentation

    • 1:50 PM UTC (9:50 AM EDT) STAX Project – Data Processing and Viewing Software – Matthias Auer

    • 2:10 PM UTC (10:10 AM EDT) STAX Project – Software Demo – Matthias Auer

  • Conference Details: The conference is offered through the Workshop on Signatures of Man-Made Isotope Production (WOSMIP). “The Workshop on Signatures of Man-Made Isotope Production (WOSMIP) is an international meeting in which the scientific community can discuss various aspects of radionuclide emissions from various activities including nuclear reactors, isotope production and use, and other activities that could interfere with international monitoring of nuclear explosions.” WOSMIP notes.

Presentation:

  • When: TBA

  • Title: STAX Project –Data processing and viewing software

  • Authors/Presenters: Matthias Auer (presenting), Kevin Frechette, Sid Hellman, Mihaela Rizescu, Serhiy Vasilyev

  • Abstract: The STAX (Source Term Analysis of Xenon) project is an experiment focused on the development of a worldwide stack release monitoring network to measure radioxenon isotopes released from medical isotope production facilities. Software has been developed to transmit, process, distribute, and interactively view data from STAX systems. The software provides several interactive viewing tools to support in-depth study of the impact of emissions on radioxenon concentrations at IMS stations. The overall operational network status is visualized on a dashboard interface. Released activities and isotopic ratios during time of release can be viewed via release data viewing charts that allow one to calculate accumulated releases over a user-specified integration time. For data quality assessment, the gamma spectrum and peak fitting results for each data point can be viewed via a basic spectra review interface, provided that spectra are transmitted from the emitting facility. Using results from atmospheric transport simulation software (such as Flexpart or Hysplit) in combination with emission data from the STAX database, simulated radioxenon concentrations at IMS stations can be viewed via an IMS concentration viewing chart.
